Hopped on a cruise for spring break to Cozumel and Roatan. I went with Dive with K8 and would highly recommend in the future. She's an independent and ran with just my daughter and I. No cattle boats. Prefers 6 or less and caps at 75 min per dive. Let's you do your own thing and stays nearby. We hit Sandra Rose and La Francesa. Seas were choppy, viz was clear. She's got an eye for macro stuff. Found some nudi's in the sand.

Couple days later I hit West End in Roatan. The cruise ships have several dive shops locked down to contracts. I went with another independent-Coconut Tree Divers. This ended up being more of a cattleboat tour guide dive. They capped us at 75min which was nice. We hit Turtle Crossing and Lighthouse Reef. The viz was not good. Nothing out of the ordinary to see. I put my camera up mid dive. The seas were rough and most of us puked our guts out on the ride out and surface interval.

Overall I'd say Cozumel > Roatan.

Just got back from a MSC cruise to Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel. Since it was a special trip for my granddaughters 13th birthday, I didn’t dive. Do you feel you had enough time for a scuba excursion or did it feel rushed? Maybe next time…,

We had plenty of time. Cozumel we disembarked at 9 and were back by 3:30. Roatan disbarked at 8 and back on the boat by 2.
