I may not be a current officer, but it's only been like six months, so that's close enough, right? At any rate, we're going to the zoo!

Where: The Houston Zoo, 6200 Hermann Park Dr, Houston, TX 77030
When: Sat 6/29 at 12 pm
Meeting Point: At the zoo map, just inside the entrance

In case you haven't heard about it, the Houston Zoo has recently opened a Galapagos Islands exhibit. From the Zoo website: The Houston Zoo’s Galápagos Islands immerses guests in an environment evoking the archipelago’s unique landscapes and oceanic habitats. No place on our planet better exemplifies the wonders of unique species, the delicate balance of ecosystems, or the pressing need for conservation action than the Galápagos. The exhibit includes a state-of-the-art habitat for Humboldt penguins. You'll also get to see sea lions, giant tortoises, sharks, and more. You can read more about the exhibit here.

The Galapagos exhibit is included in general admission. You'll need to buy your ticket from the zoo website. Tickets are not sold at the gate. When you buy your ticket, you will be prompted to select a time slot. Be sure to select the 12 pm time slot on June 29. The exhibit is actually located near the zoo entrance, so we'll go see that first. Then, if we want, we can explore the rest of the zoo. After we're done at the zoo, we'll head to Under the Volcano for drinks and grub.

So, who's going to the zoo with me?

I just bought my ticket an hour ago. Apparently parking can be an issue so will plan to be there in good time.

Gonna be hot, I’m drinking tons of water starting now so I will be nice and hydrated tomorrow!
I think the Galapagos exhibit is air conditioned, because there's penguins in there. No guarantees, though.

Yeah, weekend parking in the Hermann Park area is always fun.
