Hello from the Heights

My wife, Cathy, and I are somewhat new to Houston. We've been here about a year although I was in Katy for 6 years previous to getting married. at any rate we both love to dive, hike, sail, camp and just about anything else. We've done a couple of flower gardens trips as well as a couple of trips to the caribbean where we've rented a sailboat and tanks and just been out on our own. We are planning to make t to the monthly meeting on the 20th and look forward to seeing everyone there.

Hi folks,

Very pleased to be here, this is a great site and club--gotta love the name!

40 years ago at the tender age of 15 I was SCUBA certified at the YMCA. Unfortunately, we were ineligible for C-cards, so our instructor told us that we would be issued "Skindiver" cards until we turned 16, then we would be upgraded. We were also told that we could get air fills and equipment rentals with our cards. Well, SCUBA was way beyond my meager mans back then, so I didn't dive again until....two weeks ago when my son (15 YO!) and I became PADI certified.

Things have changed a bit since I was 15. Now I own some Oceanic kit, just a DataMask, Probe LX BC with Air XS 2 and a Delta 4 DVT regulator--nothin' fancy.

We dove Blue Lagoon last Friday--had a great time. We plan to do Twin Lakes this coming Saturday. I feel like I have come home after a loooooong hiatus.

Greetings all,

Sushi Boy asked me to introduce myself, as always be careful what you ask for, so here goes :) ... I am new to the board, while originally from Houston I now call Bay City home. I recently started diving again after about a ten year gap in diving .. the same old story work, teenage daughter, going back to school. Well the kids are grown, finished my masters, and trying to get back to working 40 hours a week.

I certified PADI OW back in 1991, just certified Nitrox (SSI), Science Diver (Diving for Science at Aquarena)and Advanced Open Water (PADI), I have made 24 fresh water dives so far this year and look forward to taking Stress and Rescue in October. Soon there after I hope to start the Dive Master track at Hydrosports Scuba.

I have Friday, Saturday, Sunday off, I will be out of pocket for the next couple of weeks, but after that if anyone is looking to dive Mammoth, 288 I am almost always game. Same goes for Aquarena if anyone else has taken the Authorization course and wants to do a two day trip (three hours each way is too long of a drive for one day of diving). My wife is deathly afraid of the water, so dive buddys are wanted.

Hi Everyone

I figured that I'd formally introduce myself. My name is Sean and I have been diving since June. I'm AOW and Nitrox certified and I'm interested in getting out to the flower gardens before the end of this season.

I met a few of you all this weekend when I was at 288 lake and I wanted to say how nice it was dive with a group of Chummers. I look forward to doing it again very soon.

Like ScubaFrog, my girlfriend is deathly afraid of water so i am always looking for a dive buddy.

I did my OW in July. Went to Cozumel in Aug. Now I'm hooked. This past weekend I did the AOW out at Twin Lakes and Mammoth. I heard about the club through my dive instructor. I am looking forward to my next dive. Unable to FG this month.

hello. I'm new to this forums. One of the chicas I work with (vanessar) suggested I check it out...

I got my AOW back in..hmm..2000 I think it was. I have all my own gear cept for the tanks...but I really don't get to dive often...maybe 25 dives total?

So I thought I would check into some of the local clubs, see if I can't can't do some more diving...

Hi there.
Just moved here from Hawaii. I did lots of free diving and spearfishing there and I am interested in making the transition to diving. And I will answer the question "why would someone move to Texas form Hawaii?" 600 grand houses built like crap.. I'm a mechanic I made good money. But i decided i wanted to owns things... Like a yard.. anyway I moved to Webster so far I like it. I hope to get to meet people and learn this breathing underwater thing.. Oh ya and shoot things..
