Viz was really bad today. It was only about 3-5 ft on the East side and in the middle.

Temp was 89

We did an 80 minute and a 101 minute dive.

We found a few things we hadn't seen before.

We went down the pipe and I put my watch on the bottom and measured 59 feet.

Maybe you should have cleaned your mask :D

We sunk a school bus on top of the metro bus Wednesday. It turned out pretty cool. The front is on the bottom running 90 degees from the metro.

viz is 8-15 today 91 degrees

I was there yesterday to DM. Viz was about 10 feet in the sw corner by site 00 and water temps were in the mid to upper 80's. No real thermocline but maybe a slight layer of warmer water in the top few feet.

A nice long dive today at 288 Lake with Vanessar and Skankpile. Thanks for coming out y'all.

Temp was in the mid 80's. Vis was apparently 10ish feet, but I pretty much only had a view of the film layer on my mask. Time for some toothpaste I guess... Lots of activity at the lake today. There were a few classes going on, and there was some sort of triathlon taking place when we got there too.

It's worth mentioning that Schurmier road has construction just east of Cullen, so the best way in is to go down to Wayside & come in from there.

It's also worth mentioning that Sisco Donuts (behind the Shell station at Cullen & BW8) has some right tasty breakfast tacos for $2. :happyeyepatch:

I was there 10/10/10 Sunday in the AM and vis was maybe 3-4 feet. I basically spent 15 minutes in the water and left.. it was a bummer.

I took my canister light but it was not much help. At one point I must have been maybe 6-8 feet from another diver at the cabin cruiser at the red ball and I never saw him until the surface.

I may try it again this weekend...

I could be wrong but, I would think Saturday morning would be better than Sunday for vis because students are there kicking up the bottom all day on Saturday.

Captain Hardhead and I were there on Sunday.
We had a nice 82 minute dive.
Spent most of the time practicing zero viz line drills down in the murk.
It was a little chilly below the thermocline.

skankpile - last month we ran a line from the boat at the big red ball headed west toward the big boat on the south side of the lake and then to the sailboat by platform #3. Did you notice if they are still there?

If the line is red and passes near the white 55gallon drum its still there. I followed it about 20 feet but it runs into a hydro weed wall so I just turned around. If I would have been able to see around the hydra I would have followed it.

I want to bring some bottles and line as well as I was putting around on the bottom and found the boat (or it found me rather) VanessaR was talking about last I was there with her and Sushi-Boy that was not marked on the map.

Does 288 ever do a hydra cleanup?

I think it was about this time last year that they did a trash cleanup day with prizes, and bags of hydrilla removed was one of the categories.

Check post #1 for a link to their website and call them to ask.

We dove at Mammoth on Saturday

Temp was 78 and vis was 5 feet

We saw the school bus that they recently sunk. The back end is on top of the Metro bus and the front end is nose down in the dirt. It looks like all the kids made it out.

Sunday afternoon it was 77-81f(says suunto), 5-10vis depending on location in lake.

Visited the swingset, tower, firetruck, transport, sub, bug, and the motorcycle on a stick. Penetrated the sub and transport it was quite fun.

Anyone know if Mammoth is still open on week days?
Also am I right that 288 & Blue Lagoon are open only on weekends?

Any ideas as to how much the water temp will drop with the nice weather we are having this week? (think I could dive with out a wet suit Saturday)?
