Two weeks from TODAY!!! :D Who else is getting excited? :D

Since we have a fair amount of new CHUM Claims the Comal-ers, let's talk about what kind of camping set-up everybody has.

We (as you guys know) will have our home there - hahaha - it is a 40' motorhome, and we will be parked in our usual Comal campsite. We plan to have our awning out and if we cook out one night, we can easily do that at our site.

Does anyone else plan to bring an RV? Travel Trailer? Pop-up camper? Tent?

I'm tent camping. Just bought a new tent, in fact. I should probably set that up in the backyard sometime beforehand, so I know what the hell I'm doing.

10 days and counting! :)

It's never too early to start thinking about and making notes on things you don't want to forget to pack:
camp chairs
sunblock
cooler w/beverage of choice
bug spray
pillows
towels
sleeping bags
blow up air mattress
ear plugs (if you are a light sleeper)
some sort of heavy duty tent stakes (ground is rock hard) or weights for the tent

As next week rolls around, we will talk food, and meals, and look more closely at the weather to determine if we need to dig out those hooded sweatshirts or not. Do any of the first timers have any questions? CHUM Board - do you want us to fill out CHUM Waivers? Some years we have, some we haven't. Your call...

Let's get the waivers. Only takes a minute. Better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Put me in the tent party, I knocked the dust off and remembered how to to set it up the other day.

Yeah I really wanted to make it down to the meeting B52 last week to talk details but here we are. I will be there Friday through Sunday. Anyone else interested in testing the waters Friday?

Sounds good! Will there be someone from the board who can bring the waivers to the Comal on Friday? I can supply the pens. :p

Lets talk Friday night food!!!

In recent years, the trend was to set up camp on Friday, and those that are in town head over to the Phoenix Saloon for dinner and drinks. We have a smaller group this year, so depending on who is getting to the Comal when on Friday, we might do the same thing, or if you guys just want to hang around and eat stuff at the campsites, that's fine, too. Any thoughts?

When are people arriving? I am assuming Reefhound and Watermonkee will roll in last after it is dark. hahaha....and I would think Volans will be one of the first to arrive on Friday early afternoon, with Vivi. Everyone else?? We plan to arrive on Wednesday. :D

It depends on if there are any plans for Friday during the day. Right now I am planning for arrival around noon so the afternoon will be free.

I'm planning on leaving Friday after work, but I'm also planning on leaving way early. So maybe 6 or 7? I definitely wanna get there before dark because ... remember that trial run with the new tent? Didn't happen. Because I'm me, and no one is surprised.

As of right now, they are calling for a chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night. If you get there early you might be able to setup the tent before the rain comes through. If you get there late, reefhound can show you how to setup a tent in the rain, he is very experienced with that work.

YIPPEE!!! We are two days away from our annual camping trip!!

I'll admit that I am not liking Saturday's weather forecast. Rain is a dampener (...hahaha...get it?) on our diving and floating plans, but we will continue to watch how it changes and watch the hourly forecast. Lots of people camp in the rain. :p

Perhaps you should pack your raincoat, and some type of appropriate shoes for rain. The good thing about it being a smaller group this year is that should it really really start raining hard, 11 of us should fit comfortably indoors between our motorhome and Seaagg's 5th Wheel. I will have SkipBo and Uno, Diveopoly, Sorry, and the ever popular Cards Against Humanity with Expansion Packs. Alamo Draft House is nearby, as well, if anyone gets cabin fever.

Since a lot of us will be there prior to sunset on Friday, and at this point, it looks like the weather will hold out until after midnight, anybody thinking they might want to just hang out and grill campside on Friday night, and maybe save going out to dinner for Saturday? It doesn't even have to be that elaborate, but the idea of having one evening to kinda chill out outside seems nice, and at this point, it is looking like Friday evening is the better weather opportunity. People can just join us as they roll in and get camp set up. What do you guys think?

I can't control the weather, but I can assure you of a fun time and an adventure. ;)

Sounds like a good plan. We are going to try and shed our reputation but it's too early to talk smack.

I am down for grilling and chilling, or anything really.

Since I am not the first to mention the weather... Would any of you river veterans be interested in doing a dive Friday afternoon? I would like to try to be sure to get one done in case Saturday goes downhill.

I’ll definitely need some food, don’t card where it comes from.plan is to be setup by 6, but it could be earlier, can’t say yet. If there’s enough time I could do a dive, but might be pretty tight for me
