It's time for the annual 2025 calendar contest!
Jenifer from the top 6.28.24.JPG

We need your photos to create another stunning calendar that CHUM members can purchase. They make great holiday gifts and you have the chance to brag that your photos have been "PUBLISHED"!

Rules (same as always):
1. The pictures must be uploaded to the CHUM Gallery. (no specific folder). If you have photos that aren't in the Media Gallery, upload them there first.
2. They must have been taken by you (you can't nominate someone else's photo, but you can encourage them to enter!).
3. They must have been taken between November 2, 2023 and November 1, 2024.
4. To keep the photographer's identity "anonymous", PM me with the links/urls for up to 3 image submissions by 11:59pm Friday, November 1, 2024. If you watermark your images, please submit one without a watermark for voting, and one with your watermark in case you win this one will be used for the calendar.
5. NO AI-generated/created/altered images will be permitted- images MUST originate from a camera that you were holding. Retouching in a photo editing software program is permitted. Screengrabs from video are permitted.

When the submission period closes Tiger Sharks, Nurse Sharks, and Remoras will have the opportunity to rate the images with the highest-rated photos earning a spot in the calendar ( a separate post with voting instructions will be posted in early November).

Reminders:
1. Photos that have won contests this year are automatically entered.
2. The photographer with the photo with the highest overall rating will be crowned the Photographer of the Year (PotY).
And even though this helps:
3. The pictures don't have to be underwater
4. They don't have to be of CHUMmers or taken at a CHUM event

FAQ:
1. Can I submit an old photo?
-The photos must have been TAKEN AND UPLOADED to the CHUM website gallery between November 2, 2023 and November 1, 2024.

2. How are we voting?
-We'll do voting the same way as last year. I'll link to a survey, everyone will rate the photos 1-5 (5 being the best).

Note: Any 2024 Photo mini-contest winners are automatically included. Don't submit those!

Let's see all those wonderful photos!

Here is the media gallery link for winning photos from the 2024 calendar:

Winning photos will be featured in our 2025 calendar which we will take orders for in mid-November and plan to deliver at the CHUM Christmas Party in December or they can be mailed for the cost of postage (a separate post for orders will follow in November with details).

What is the largest size image I can enter? I thought it was 10Mb but it wouldn't let me and I really don't wan to spend ages resizing again and again to find the sweet spot.

The limits are set in the Admin CP. I think it's 5Mb. Not sure what we are paying for storage space. We have often used smaller resolutions for the everyday gallery and voting then asked for the best resolution version you have for ones that make the calendar. Not sure who our calendar provider is these days or what resolution they can handle.

I cannot see it in the settings but 5MB may be the figure. Some of my photos larger than 3MB did not display correctly so that may be more prudent.
I suggest try uploading one at 3MB and if that works, upload a batch.
As above, any photos destined for the calendar can be emailed as a larger file.

They have to be on the chum site to qualify.
