Athens Scuba Park Trip

Looking for a way to work off all that turkey and, ham, why not join us for a weekend at Athens Scuba Park on December 7th and 8th http://www.athensscubapark.com/about.asp

For those DAM CHUMmers still in the race and not going off somewhere warm for their December dive this is the perfect opportunity to score the home run and bask in the collective glory.

The plan is to head up on Saturday morning, make a few dives and camp on the Saturday night before returning home on Sunday after an invigorating dive or two in the morning. The dive shop is open so air fills, tank rental etc. will be available and for those of you stuck for an idea for the Christmas party gift exchange, you can always get something with a dive flag on it.

Park entry id $20 per person day, camping which is only available on Saturday night is $5 per person and fills are the rock bottom price of $5 (not sure I have them any cheaper).

Since I should get that Friday off, I might head off on Friday and detour on the way.

I should collect my repaired dry suit during the week.

Having looked at using my Friday for some local tourism on the way, I can't find any near to Athens that I have not already visited. Guess I'll be travelling on Saturday morning. At least that frees up Friday to get stuff done. iratewithhat:

Sorry folks, looks like this one is off due to weather in the Dallas area.
Will be hitting Mammoth lake instead..watch this space.

As it is freezing cold with snow forcast up in Athens, we will be taking a (slighlty) more sensible approach so Mammoth lake it is, meeting around 10:330 - 11:00 on Satruday morning.
Feel free to join us for diving, beer and wings or any combination you like.

We all meet up at the shop and after getting signed in and geared up jumped in. Water temp ranged from 59 - 61 throughout the dive. Viz was better than last week but still in that 5-10 foot range.
After getting my weight sorted out for a new suit Birddig and I did just over a half hour dive. As we were headed back to the dock the others surfaced.
It was strange to be in water 20 degrees warmer than the air, almost enough to make you get back in
Beer and wings after went down well.
Congratulations to Sushi Boy and GWNDWN on becoming DAM CHUMmers, and Birddog and myself for being DAM Crazy doing a second dive in Mammoth in December.
