What a fun weekend! We couldn't have asked for better weather and had a great time on the Comal! :happyeyepatch:

I rolled into town a bit earlier than I expected so I swung by Gruene Hall for a beer. I was sitting outside enjoying the music when I see scubagirl and Dwayne strolling in as well. We hung out there for a bit and then went to the Faust Brewing Company for dinner. Reefhound and family were at the campsite when I got there after dinner and infamousham docked the cruiser a short time later. Siren and 24% were nice enough to make a special trip to come see us and bring us brownies!

Saturday morning we went on a breakfast taco run. I was starting to think that I'd be the only one diving when I got a text from LegoBlox that he and birddog were enroute with his dive gear. We hit the water about 11:00 and had a very enjoyable dive down the Comal. A crawfish shook hands (ok, finger) with me and we saw what we're pretty sure were turtle eggs. Reefhound was nice enough to come pick us up afterward since Landa claimed that they can no longer carry dive gear in their shuttle . When we got back Heidi Ho had joined the group at the campsite and we all started getting ready to tube.

The tubing was as fun as ever, even if we did have to make some gear adjustments to accomodate the new non-disposable container rules on the Comal. The CHUM-o-pede was 13 people long by my count and we definitely got people's attention when we went through the tube chutes.

After tubing we had a nice dinner at Pat's Place and then went to our respective sleeping places and crashed pretty early.

After another quick breakfast taco run on Sunday morning (man those things are good!) we broke camp and headed back to Houston.

I uploaded a few pics to the Gallery. The rest of mine are on a disposable camera, I'll get them posted as soon as I get them back.

Loved my first time tubing experience: loved the CHUM-o-pede.

Great way to spend the afternoon.

Ok - before I forget...where are you getting the breakfast tacos from, SB? Don't be holding out on us....

It really was a great weekend; the weather, the water and the company were perfect. Nice drive down, got there right after SB and LegoBloxs got in the water. I had Mexican food for lunch...along with a Blizzard from DQ :) Scubagirl and Dwayne joined us and after Scubagirl and I compared shoes for a while, we jumped in the tubes for a leisurely float - until Scubagirl said 'c'mere baby, I gotta pee'.

Sushi got some pics of the CHUM-O-Pede and I think we stayed pretty well connected the whole time. And thanks Infamousham and Marcia for letting us use their site as the circle this year...great to hang with them both.

Back to the camp/hotel for cleanup then dinner - beer never tasted so good. Silly me, I ordered a vodka drink and the baby behind the bar said 'we don't have vodka here, we're not a fancy place' - hahaha. If he only knew the dumps I've drunk vodka in....but I digress. Dinner was nice...I got a few pictures of the group and RH's beautiful fam ;)

Like Sushi said, it was an early night for us all but it was a wonderful way to spend the weekend. I look forward to this every year - missed the regulars but was glad to see some newbies too.

As always, special thanks to Siren for julieing this each year - so appreciate your efforts!

We arrived just after sunset and quickly got both tents set up with minimal grumbling. I stole a Shiner from Sushi's cooler (serves him right for leaving beer unguarded) and began setting up a circle. Sushi returned and we had a few beers. Soon Siren and 24% delivered the brownies and chatted awhile. Orin pulled his bus in later. He always gets that monster in no matter how narrow and winding the road. I think he could parallel park it downtown if needed.

Kinda weird having a julie for a camping trip stay in a motel. Hey Heidi, are you actually going to be aboard the Spree in August? ;) j/k

I didn't dive again this year. Drove the CRV and it was packed as it was. The Comal is really a nice fun dive but I've done it so many times I like to make this event just camping w the family. I'll dive when I can make a day trip or over nighter sometime on my own.

Tubing was a blast. The quantity of CHUM on the river may have been lower but certainly not the quality. It appears our containers met the requirements as we passed numerous park police in kayaks where it appeared some were in training.

This was a low maintenance camping weekend for me. All the cooking was done by others. Funny thing, I had been looking forward to grilling home made burgers with embedded cheese and jalapenos, and was kinda disappointed about missing that, but we got invited to a cookout Sunday and finally did it back here in Houston.

We may have to discuss alternate possibilities next year due to various factors but I'm looking forward to doing this again next spring. I've uploaded a few pics in the previously linked gallery.

Well after reading trip reports I decided not to add anything. Except it was great fun! And by the way Holly said that not me!! There was another quote of the day that involved balls and sunglasses but can't remembr exactly what was said....Holly? Thanks guys for making Dwayne feel so welcomed. He said you have a great group of friends and he hopes to meet the rest of the gang.

Among my acceptable CHUM names - Heidi Ho, Heidi Ho Ho Ho and Headwound Ho - is Hotel Ho :p

You kidding about the Spree? Wookie's got a better mattress on that bunk than I do on my bed!

Apparently, I took only four pictures...and three of them were of Reef and the Houndettes  All uploaded...

"Hey, you're balls are floating."
