December's DAM CHUM dive is DONE for both me and 24%, and our 3rd YEAR IS COMPLETED!!!!!
I wanted this to sound as exciting as possible, because our December dive was anything but...
After driving 5 1/2 hours roundtrip from St. Louis to Mermet Springs in southern Illinois, spending $57 for entry and air fills, and almost an hour and a half gearing up, we only got in a 17 minute dive at 25'. Vis was really poor, it was 48° water temps, Douglas' drysuit leaked and my inflator hose o-ring decided to rupture and wouldn't stop free-flowing. Boooo. But all that said, Douglas saw a spoonbill, I saw a perch, and we still completed our December dive, and that's all that counts. Plus, Mermet Springs let us taste test the Christmas cookies and rum balls for their Christmas party later, and they played Christmas music underwater for our dive.
Congratulations to all the 2018 DAM CHUMMERS!!! 24% is happy that we were not the last to complete it. hahahaha....GO, SEAAGG05, GO!!!!!

Well the year is coming to an end. It's now been 12 full months past when the current DAM CHUMmer awards have typically been announced.
In that time, the 6th year DAM CHUMmers have logged 48 combined dives, spending hundreds of hours of their time and a fair amount of money in pursuit of the challenge this year.
The swag from the club isn't anybody's driving factor in pulling off what is no small feat, but it is a nice symbol that the club recognizes and appreciates the efforts.
When will this Board see fit to let the most dedicated group of divers in the club know what their award will be?

Shucks. I guess that means no booty at the January meeting, then. That's okay. 24% and I won't be able to make the February meeting, when they will most likely be handed out. Maybe Seaagg05 will create an impromptu 2nd ceremony at the Comal in April like he did last year.

I don't know that. I'm not in the mod forums yet. For all I know, the booty is ready to present. I'm just sayin', if it isn't then it will be an action item for the new board.

I recently logged my 13th monthly dive without knowing what the 6 year DAM CHUMmers will be receiving or even when we’ll find that out.
The issue of when we’ll know / what it will be has been brought up by at least 6 members over the past 5 months without the courtesy of a direct answer. It’s really disappointing to see a BOD with that sort of disregard for the members of this club.

So I guess all the DAM Chummers are getting restless... so here's an update:
I'm in the process of getting sizes/colours for our 3rd year DAM Chummers, and once I have that info I'll place the order. My guess is the prizes will be awarded at the February meeting.
For those of you on your 6th year, I'm trying to get some custom BCD Tags (see example below) but it's not something our usual embroiderer does, so it takes a bit of back and forth to get the design.
I didn't advertise it earlier in case we couldn't get them for a reasonable price or we found something else. I didn't think it would be a controversial issue like the Jackets, but I obviously misread the situation.

Hey, I made a fun collage to commemorate 24% and I completing our 3rd year DAM CHUM Challenge!! Fun, huh?
What a great achievement -Both the doing a dive each month and always remembering to take a picture.
