Put on your eye patches and get out your wooden spoons, it's time for the 2013 Dive Pirates Chili Cook off and Treasure Hunt.
This a great day out for divers and non-divers and all in aid of a great cause. Dive Pirates supports, trains, equips, and provides dive travel to individuals with disabilities through Adaptive Scuba Diving. Learn more at http://www.divepirates.org/index.php

This years event is taking place at the Blue Lagoon on September 7th 2013.

As part of the treasure hunt there is plenty of excellent booty, past years have seen BCs and dive computers amongst the haul. Last year 3 CHUM members went along and we would love to see the number increased for such a good cause.

Cost of the day is yet to be announced but in previous years it's been $20, which also includes as much chili as you could eat.

If there is any interest we could also enter a CHUM chili in the contest as well. Entry for a chili team was also $20 previously.

More details will be provided when available.

Chili prizes have been given for best Chili, people's choice and best dressed team/stand.

Looks like summer is officialy here now and the water is getting warm. Why not come out to the Blue Lagoon, enjoy some diving and good food whilst supporting a good cause.

I'd say there is a pretty good chance that my wife and I will join. We've not met any other divers in the area yet so it should be good times.

Just registered. I have a question.....I see that the park opens at 8 and the diving starts at 11:00 - what time should we realistically be there? Will 10 be ok? Or do we need to be there earlier?

I'm hoping my schedule allows me to attend this event. I'll know for sure by Thursday.
I'm very interested in getting involved with Dive Pirates as a volunteer, so if anyone has
more info to share about their program, please share the knowledge.

I was there on Monday and it was very warm. My wife wore a shorty, I dove with trunks and a rash guard. The wife is normally pretty cold blooded and she got chilled after an hour dive. I'd say you'd be hot in anything more then a shorty or 3mm.

HELP!! Does anyone coming to the chili cook off have a folding table that they could bring, I just realized mine is on the wrong side of the Atlantic.
