No, I'm not moving to Florida. Not yet at least...
There are a few things I've been wanting to check out or revisit there so I just booked a trip in July.
I'm flying to FLL on 20 July:
On Tues 21 July, I'll be shore diving the famous Blue Heron Bridge in the afternoon. High tide is at 3:00 pm, which gives plenty of time to sleep in a bit, have lunch, and still make it to the Pura Vida Divers to rent tanks, weights, and a dive flag (no need to reserve those in advance) before heading over to Phil Foster Park to gear up for the dive. This is an easy dive for anyone, even newly certified divers.
On Wed 22 July, I've booked a 2 pm 2-tank dive to Neptune Memorial Reef and another site (captain's choice) with Diver's Paradise.
This was the original impetus behind the trip. I'm considering designating that as my final resting place (hence the trip title) but want to see it myself before making any decisions. These dives should be fairly easy ones too.
On Thurs 23 July, I've booked a night blackwater dive, again through Pura Vida Divers. This is an advanced dive in challenging conditions and not for the inexperienced. Minimum of AOW or night dive certifications are required. That said, it should be pretty cool. Some of you remember our Sep '22 speaker, Linda Ianniello. I've wanted to do a blackwater dive ever since hearing her presentation, so when in Rome... My pictures may suck, but I still wanna experience the dive.
That's the diving portion. I think there are some pretty cool & unusual dives.
This is a very loosely organized "trip" (put in this forum at the recommendation of our illustrious VeeP), but if anyone wants to join me for some or all of that, come on!
Book your own travel & diving. I'll let you know where I'm staying (probably somewhere in between the two shops to minimize driving, maybe around Ft Lauderdale somewhere, TBD). If you want to stay there too, cool. If you'd rather stay somewhere else, that's cool too.
I'm planning on hanging around the following weekend to visit a friend who lives there but might be able to drop off at FLL on Friday morning, if needed.
I think that about covers everything. Anybody interested in tagging along?
