The Houston Underwater Film Festival (HUFF) will be held on the weekend of April 11/12th at Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH). This is at 3400 Main St Houston, Tx, 77002. Buy your tickets on the HUFF website (however it looks like that is still set for previous years - should be updated soon........)
The HUPS HUFF website has the link to the video trailer and it is also here on Youtube.
From the HUPS website:
The 6th annual Houston Underwater Film Festival (HUFF) is April 11-12, 2026 at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH). Performances are at 3:00 PM each day. Each day closes with a raffle to benefit the HUFF with some awesome prizes including dive travel, dive photographic equipment, works of art, books and more. Raffle tickets are 3/$5 — must be present to win! After the Saturday screening and raffle, we will adjourn to Wooster’s Garden (a block away) for an informal “meet the filmmakers” event. After the Sunday event, there is a reception in the Gallery of the MATCH where we honor the winners (selected by real-time anonymous audience vote) and hold the Sunday raffle. Entry to the reception is free, but there is a ticket required for the buffet. Being creatures of habit, some of us are likely to wander across the street again after the reception. Make plans to join us for this unique event that showcases all things relating to the underwater world from the beauty of the Oceans and coral reefs to fresh water to animation, free diving and underwater dance. Ticket information and more can be found at huff.hups.org. The HUFF is a non-profit event and is run by volunteers from the dive community. It is supported by the Houston Underwater Photographic Society as well as dive clubs, individuals, the international dive community and businesses. Thanks to all for their tremendous efforts and support!
There are 7 categories of short films over the 2 afternoons and they are selected by a committee including @Sushi Boy and @The Meg .
“Protect and Respect the Oceans”
“Shorts Videos”
“Art House Flicks”
“Made in Texas” (for filmmakers living in Texas)
“Dance and Free Diving”
“Animation”
“Feature Length” (these are the full 5 minutes!)
For the weekend event, there is parking available at Mid Main Parking off Holman Street and this is multi-level parking directly opposite the MATCH.
See CHUM link from HUFF 2024 and HUFF 2025 with details for those events.
The event relies on volunteers (mainly HUPS) so if you want to contribute some of your time to this, approach a CHUM board member for contact details with the organizers (Craig and Betsy Beasley). Volunteers still pay to attend, and there are a range of tasks including helping with raffle tickets, ushering, buffet service, and event access. Details as follows:
We'll add more HUFF detail below and advise once tickets are on sale but flagging this now so folks can plan ahead. I plan to attend on both afternoons, with beers on the Saturday night, and the Awards buffet after the Sunday showing.
Who's thinking of going and when?
