Our friends at Lunarfins (specifically "The Meg") are organizing a dive at Mammoth on Sunday June 2nd. There is a reservation confirmation at Thunder Bay on Mammoth Lake on Sunday June 2, 2024 for a spring check out dive and picnic. Lunarfins is inviting all the clubs and anyone else that’s interested including Brazosport Underwater club. (BUC), HUPS and BAD.

The format is still being worked and should include a couple of dives in the morning, and then those that are keen to grill up some burgers and dogs will get that started around 12 or 1pm.

We’ll add some details shortly but I wanted to get this on calendars now.

Do we have someone that can clarify this statement?

Just want to be sure how much money I need to bring and if we need to provide our own food.

I asked for clarification yesterday after this was posted. Waiting on a response.

We have clarification on this. The entry fees are the usual fees at Mammoth, i.e. $20 or $25 to dive (I paid $20 last Saturday) and $10 for non-divers.
The $10 sum mentioned is if you want food from the planned picnic. I'll start a feed thread above so that 'The Meg' at Lunarfins can get numbers on this.
More details will be added shortly.

Good morning, here is the google link that Dennis created. I’m in the field and having trouble moving it into a file on my I phone so I’m not sure if it will open. I will see if I can get him to repost it to this thread this afternoon.
The only thing Lunarfins is charging for is the Grill food. It’s $10, this is only to offset the cost of the food as there is typically a small amount of money in our budget for our spring checkout dive. We will be providing Burgers, Nathan’s all beef skinless dogs, sausages, and single packs of chips. Someone mentioned bringing potato salad.
If you want you can bring your own and I’ll be happy to put it on the grill for you. I typically use a tailgater grill and two burner flat top.
We will provide water, Tea and assorted seltzer waters to everyone regardless of food purchase or not.
I will have plenty of ice on hand.
There’s a little confusion on entry fees so the best thing to do is double check the lake webpage.
If you need tanks or equipment I would recommend you reserve them in advance as this is a very busy time of the year.
It’s best to fill out waivers in advance on line so it doesn’t create a road block at the check in station.
There will be some new staff members there and they probably won’t know most of us, they will be checking for annual member credentials and waivers. They have posted a heads up on this at the Mammoth Facebook page.
Dennis and Jessica Lee will be setting up blocks of time that will be posted at our Thunder Bay check in and there will also be waivers for Jess as this is what she does for a living and one for Dennis/Lunarfins. There is a guest book so I can report attendance to the Council. Address and email are optional, all the council asks for is your name.
I will have three additional canopies and will be spraying for mosquitoes. You might want to bring your own chairs.
Please bring any club banners and flags as this is for all clubs and all divers.
The idea is to give everyone a chance to get to know each other better and grow the sport that we all love.
Thank you everyone for bearing with me as this is my first rodeo. and also your interest in this project.
If there are any questions you’re more than welcome to text or email me.

I'm just getting 404 errors on the link above.
Presumably there will be paper waivers on site on the day for the event and for diving with Jessica Lee.

The link for Mammoth website and their waiver is here. If you haven't already signed it for this year, you can do it online in advance.

To help with numbers for provided picnic food ($10), I have added a list on post #2 above. Post if you want this option and bring cash.

I will see if I can get Dennis to send the link again. There will be paper waivers for Dennis and Jess. Thank you for coming.
One of the shops posted yesterday that the water was close to 15 ft vis at the Thunder Bay end of the lake.

I just sent this over to the Lunarfins group for confirmation, will let you know ASAP.
Lunar Fins will have hotdogs sausage and burgers with single pack chips for $10 if you’d like you can bring your own food but we will have plenty if you just want to eat the grill food. I will be providing water assorted seltzer waters in plenty of Clean ice there will be no charge for the refreshments. The reason for the $10 is to offset the food costs as my budget for our spring check out is only 80$.
Thank you for bringing this up to clarify things.

watermonkee and reefhound plan to be there, and to participate in the $10 lunches.
