Welcome to the club Tonya. We definitely do love to dive. You won't have a problem with that. What you will have a problem with is having enough money to do all the dives we plan. lol It's constant struggle with the wallet. But, I think most have it under some sort of control.

Richard

P.S. If you ever want to come over to yack about diving or check out the gear, you can find me under the overpass at I-10 and Hwy 6. Let me know ahead of time so I can clean off a spot on the concrete for ya. :D

Hi, my name is Katherine. I'm newly certified, last spring. I'll be working on my PADI Advanced Open Water this spring. My only dive so far has been in Costa Rica shortly after getting certified. I have a trip planned to Bonaire in July. I'm looking forward to checking out the local dive spots, new dive buddies, and working on my skills.

I met a couple of you guys on Thursday night and I'm looking forward to meeting more at the next meeting!

Hi!

I'm new to the group. I'm a certified rescue diver from Huntsville that's been diving for about 10 years. I've been to Australia (both the Great Barrier Reef and South Australia for the Great White trip with Rodney Fox), Belize, Cozumel, and the Bahamas.

Justin Branham is a friend from Moody Gardens, and he told me about the group, so I thought I'd check y'all out. Looks like an interesting group!

Welcome Kelly

This is a great club.

I volunteer at Moody Gardens also and have been telling everyone about CHUM.

You might want to join us at Aquarena Springs for the Scientific Diver course in a couple of weeks.

Kelly,

Are you the Kelly that I met yesterday at Blue Lagoon? I was the one that brought over the 2XL Jet fin for someone to size the foot pocket.

No. It was opened on a special deal for Oceanic Ventures for the Stress/Rescue class. :p

You didn't miss much. It was 55 F! ...dry suit and dry gloves territory.

.. to CHUM but not the water. I met some of you guys at the social (03/03/06) and wanted to get my name on the list here. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things around the Houston dive scene if my schedule will allow it.

Hello All

Hi Everyone:

I was introduced to diving by my old friend Lord British with a 10 day scuba trip to Grand Cayman in 1989. I literally completed my open water certification in Lake Travis the week before we left. Needless to say, I was not very impressed by my Lake Travis experience. It was murky and cold; so cold still that I had to wear a hood, which made me claustrophobic. So I was dubious on the boat ride out to my very first open water dive. In fact, I tried to beg off by saying that I would be happy to snorkel, and everyone else could go on the dive. But L.B. strong armed me out of the boat, and I managed to stick my face in water, even though my teeth were chattering with fear. That's all it took--one glance into the water. Visibility: unlimited. The entire trip was transcendant, and I've been hooked since. I've made it back to Grand Cayman many times, Little Cayman, the Keys, Cozumel, and Fiji. I highly recommend doing Bligh Water in Fiji from the Nai'a.

My husband and I are going to Kaua'i at the end of May to dive Niihau, and I hope to make it to Cocos soon...

Hello From a Visiting Hoosier

I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the Houston HH on Friday night and I wanted to log in and post a thank you. It was a great get together, and everyone seemed to be having an awesome time. The drinks flowed freely, as well as the Texas hospitality. Some of you Texan's were extremely friendly. ;-)

Thanks again

Rick

Hello,
I joined a few weeks ago but have just been hanging around. I live in Sweeny, but in Houston but close enough that I figured I see what is going on and maybe join in once in awhile.

Another CHUM newbie here

Is the next meeting the 16th or did the pre-St Pattys day celebration change that? Thought I read that Stagshead wasn't available so meeting would be moved to following week. Looking forward to meeting "all y'all" even if I'm admitting that I'm a real newbie to diving and to CHUM! Just think I'll be easily impressed by all these exotic places people have been (that I can't even pronounce or find on a map)!!! Kari (K2)

Welcome to the club. Don't worry you'll fit right in here, we are all easily impressed.....or is that easily amused? Either way, if you carry something shiny with you we can be entertained for hours.

Hi!

Hello everyone,

I'm here what more is there to say? ;) Actually, I am brand new to diving (I'm registered for classes in April although if possible I'll try and move it up to next weeks class). I really can't wait to get into the water its something I've always wanted to do.

I'll try and make some of the Pub meeting but I train in Aikido on tuesdays and thrusdays so chances of that are slim.
