Welcome Cave Diver - Carl!

Nice to see that you made it over here. I just KNEW that it had to be you!! Please do try to make it to some of the meetings and functions, we're a very diverse and fun group. Also feel free to join in on the conversations, I can only imagine what input you'll have.

So anyway, welcome welcome, we'll have to put together another Travis trip soon. The water is almost right!!!

Thanks, I feel welcome !
A Travis trip is on the horizon. It will be a while, though. I am booked for a while with teaching classes. I am heading to Florida in two weeks to teach IANTD courses and to get in a few cave dives. Perhaps Travis in May ????

Need to get to Florida myself....the springs are calling!!!

New to diving and CHUM

Hello everyone, I'm Thresa and discovered thsi great forum while on another scuba diving forum. Reefhound told me about it. I couldn't remember his name and the other forum wasn't working at the time, so I couldn't give him credit when I registered on this site. I have always loved marine life and even have my own 135 gallon reef tank. I've always wanted to scuba dive and I finally completed my open water certification last fall. I am planning on going on a few dive trips this summer....I can't wait. I look foward to chatting and possibly diving with some local divers.

Hi everyone. I've met a few of you at several HH over the past year or so, and also at the Joe Burnworth book signing. I've finally made my way over to the board. It's great to see so many local events planned, and I hope I'll get an opportunity to join in on some of them this summer. See ya soon!

living in Paradise!

hola to everyone!

I`m Pollito, Spanish lady living in Cancun ... :)

I`m a dive master, and I make my living from been an underwater photographer ... my husband Brutus is a dive instructor and a qualifite Full cave diver ... after hurracane Wilma he is working as an independent instructor, guide and as an underwater photographer and videographer.

I`m resanoble new to this world, jeje ... I have dove in australia and grenada.

Last october I arrived to Cancun, not knowing for sure what I would be doing, but I recall that few years back I was in Australia (were I took my open and advance certifications) and many people where working for free in dive shops in exchange for basic accomodation and free diving training .. so I tought I would give it a try, I aproach a shop and they told me that, NO NO ... that was not the way it work in Cancun, but never the less they didn`t have any jobs available, but they pased me on a phone number from the person who had the photography consecion of the shop, I meet him in one hour and next day I was in photography training ... jeje ... after a short while I become the Boss ... as Captain HardHead and Kynut will tell you ... jeje ... I took the oportunity of Wilma to advance in my studies and I then study nearly all Pady speciality and also became a Dive MAster, still I prefer photography and that`s what I do full time ... :) ... So that in short it`s me ... :)
Hope to have a chance to meet you all little by little ... :)

Bienvenidos a club CHUM

We hope to visit you very much, since it probably means we are on VACATION. Ha ha.

When I saw your location, I knew Doug (Captain Hardhead) and Ken (Kytnut) had been spreading the good word about us.

You are lucky to have a fun job in a beautiful location. Enjoy it now. And we are praying for NO MORE hurricanes.

Welcome to Chum piratediver!!!

Glad to see that you made it over, well dive buddies you asked for, dive buddies you have now (and drinking buddies when they aren't in the water)!

Guys, this guy walked into the shop, said he was certified in St. Croix while on a job there. I told him that I had a buddy that I met in Roatan that now teaches in St. Croix...YEP, same guy!! I can never get over what a small world we have here!!

Take some time to look around here, there is lively discussion and tons of diving going on....don't be shy and you'll fit in just fine!

Hello Everybody

I am a newbie here. Got an email from my dive shop (WW Diving) that gave me the link. Great folks there. It's great to know about this site. I'll be looking forward to doing some local diving this year and hopefully get out to the flower gardens. Most of my diving has been in Cozumel and the Riviera Maya. Went to St. Martin last fall and that's about it. Of course I've done the Blue Lagoon and Twin Lakes but look forward to some more local input from this board. My wife and I just had a baby in January so it's not looking good for our bi-annual trips to Coz this year. So...looks like I'll be getting some more local experience (low vis) this year. Hope to make a meeting soon and meet some of you folks.

Hello everyone!

My name is Jana. I am new to the forum. I'm very Glad I was introduced to the site. Thanks dennis from WW Diving in Humble. I live in Houston. I am not a native Houstonian, but got here as quickly as I could. I have been a certified diver for about 4 years now. I got into diving mainly in part to something I saw on the travel channel. (I am now no longer allowed to watch it). Just kidding, but when my husband proposed to me we were trying to decide where to go on our honeymoon. I happened to be watching the travel channel when a bit on Cayman Islands came on. That was all she wrote! I was determined to go there. My husband said it was mainly a divers destination. So what else could I do! We got certified (I've been certifiable for awhile now) in Sep't. of '02 and were married in June of '03. We spent our honeymoon on Grand Cayman and every anniversary since on one of the islands or another. It has been the best thing I have done for myself ever! I love the sport and the people I meet because of it. I know that there is a whole world out there to explore and some people may think we are depriving ourselfs of all the other wonderful places to go and see, but for now I am content on diving Cayman Islands. I just regret that I wasn't certified much earlier in life. I truly feel I have missed out on so much. Now I have to catch up on all that diving I missed out on! Thanks for listening and thanks for having me here. I hope to visit often and certainly hope I have a little bit to contribute.

Welcome Jana, does your hubby still enjoy diving? If so, have him sign on too, and you both need to start coming to our meetings.

Diving every year in the Caymans, we should all be so deprived. ;)
