Hi, Dee!

Glad to see you onboard. Haven't been to ScubaBoard lately, and I was wondering how you and Beast are doing. Don't know when I'll next be at Twin Lakes, but I'm still looking forward to diving with you some time.

Hey Smash....glad to see you here! I imagine it'll be at least a month before the water at TL is warm enough for me. After that you'll find us there every weekend. Just let me know and we'll hook up.

Hello everyone

Hello everyone. I have not dived in about 12yrs. I want to get back into it. I am a Paramedic, so y'all have another medical person on board now :D . I know a few of you already from another site(You know who you are ;) ). It's great to be here.

Hi Medic8023,

Welcome aboard!

Many of us are DMs or instructors here and can either give you a refresher course, or you can just come diving with us at some of the local holes. A refresher is simply an overview of the open water course, a review of the tables and some in-water time to help rebuild you comfort level with the skills. Do you still have your personal gear? If not, you can email one of us off list for some recomendations or check out the weblinks in the "Friends of CHUM" column on the home page.

Again, welcome aboard and hope to see you out and about with us in the future!

I first started diving in '99 @ Blue Lagoon, man was it cold, mid Nov water temp at 20' 61. While I was waiting for my mask stuff, I was thinking man what have I got myself into. Once that was over and we were allowed to move around thought, well this ain't so bad. I have a soon to be 16 year old daughter that is my diving buddy she is a blast. We just bought all our own diving stuff. (new u/w dig cam) can't wait to use it. New to CHUM I can't wait for my first meeting.

Hello All

Just wanted to drop a line to say hello. I've been diving for a couple years now. We originally did our class work in Indiana and open water in St. John. We finished our Advanced with GigglinMarlin on an oil rig in the Gulf. Rescue diver will begin as my schedule allows.

We were trying to get 100 dives in this year but time is running out! We've done mostly warm water dives. Honestly, I've fed the fish from the Gulf of Mexico to Curaco if you know what I mean! Last trip that I dove was CocoView in Roatan, Honduras. The land of long bottom times! For those of you going on the trip, ENJOY! :D

For all interested, I'm on the "Bored" of Directors for the Houston Parrot Head Club and we're having our annual fund-raising event on Saturday, April 16 -- 2 bands, raffles, games, and all you can eat crawfish. www.houstonparrotheadclub.net for more info. Hope to see you there!

Looking forward to meeting many of you at events and diving with you as much as my schedule allows!
Fins up!

Just getting started

Well I guess I'm supposed to introduce myself since I'm new to this whole thing. Actually I'm not yet certified but in the process with Gigglin Marlin, which I could not possibly say enough good things about them (absolutely the best possible buying experience I would have ever hoped to have, actually more then I could have ever hoped for). Last weekend we had our pool time and next weekend we head to the lake to complete the process.

Yes I actually live and work on Galvestraz and have now for about 6 years so I would be interested in finding out about some dive opportunities in this area as well as some more exotic locations. Like I said I'm just getting started out on this whole thing but it looks like a lot of fun so far and I'm excited to get a chance to look at something other the bottom of a swimming pool. :)

Ahem (taps mike three times)....

Let me introduce myself (as was recommended to me by another member)

My real name is "Wildfire" and I run a "Technologies" company. To hide myself in the thicket, I have adopted a secret identity as "Matt Seibert", father of three (children), father of three (cats), keeper of two (dogs) and keeper of the reef (my 265 gallon mixed reef aquarium).

I have been diving since late 1993, and reached the level of PADI DiveMaster before becoming "super-dad" in 1998. My kids are now old enough that I am starting to be let (slowly, in small amounts) out of the house by the spousal unit, and am trying to get back to diving.

My goals in life are:
Retire when I'm 50
Raise my kids to love and respect nature
Dive so much my wetsuit never has a chance to dry out

Anyone that can help me with ANY of these things, please let me know!

(More information, if you really have to know, can be found at http://www.wildfire-tech.com/~matt/)

Thanks!

hello

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been diving for a little over a year. I got certified in December, took the advanced course and got very hooked. I started diving every weekend with the instructer as a safety diver and over the next year got up to asistant instructor. I wasn't all that motivated to teach, it was kinda an excuse to stay in the water. I absolutely loved it, and teaching is fun. I've been diving in the gulf, comal and lake Travis (yuch!), key largo, miami, and caymans. My diving buddies moved to Cayman so now I have no one to go with! Great for vacation, though. I am just looking for some new dive friends and ways to get back in the water. Have all my own stuff including a dry suit I've only used once. oh, I am a physical therapist in my other non-dive life. Hope to meet you all soon.

Too bad you're not a psycho-therapist. I know some people here could use a little "help."

Welcome to our little dive club...Growing as we speak!

Welcome, welcome! Looking forward to meeting you at the meeting! :)

Somehow working with alzheimer's patients will really not prepare you dealing with this crowd...We are a little 'different" from any kind of dive club in the traditional sense. Actually a lot of the time "sense" doesn't feature in our activities at all - See when "Beanies go bad"!

Great to have all our new members aboard and looking forward to meeting you all!

I just thought I would take Sushi Boy's suggestion and say hello. I'm a third year ob/gyn resident at Baylor, newly appointed Chief Resident for next year. Hopefully, I'll have more time to dive next year! Our last trip was to the Flower Gardens in March. Before that was Roatan, Curacao, Belize, Guanaja, USVI, etc. My husband takes a lot of cool photos -- digital. I find things and he takes the photos! Currently, we're making plans for at least 3 dive trips for July 1 to June 30. We'd love to plan something with other people!

I'm also a huge Jimmy Buffett fan so you'll see posts from me regarding events the Houston Parrot Head Club is doing.

Hi Axolotl,

I used to work with axolotls in college. Neat little critters! Welcome to the club! I'm also working on my cave certifications through NSS-CDS in Florida. Some nice caves there too. Once I finish my full cave course I wanna plan a trip down to the Yucatan to visit the cenote's there.....
