Hi everyone,

I posted a few notes already and completely forgot to introduce myself. My name is Monika and I moved to Houston almost 7 years ago. I love reading and long walks on the beach... eh, forget that :D

I got OW certified on August 6 (yay) but have not dived since - been fighting ear infections instead. I am looking to complete a few specialized courses and then go for my advanced OWD. Ultimately, I would like to be a Master Scuba Diver, if God's willing. I plan to dive often but locally only for now, until I get comfortable in the water and with the equipment (that I don't own just yet).

I hope to meet you guys at the monthly meeting this Thursday. See you there!

I fought an ear infection DURING my OW training, I noticed it on a thursday the doc had it cleared up before the next wensday for the water part :D might want to look into swim ear. and use it after every dive... it seems to help alot.

Hello All

Originally from England I will be moving to Houston soon. I have already got myself organised to go on the Catalina trip. No hanging about here.

I started diving in Rarotonga, Cook Islands in 1990 and dived in Fiji and New Zealand. Then had a long vacation from it.....hhmmm.
Started again when living in the Middle East (where I met and dived with Outback). Then had another long break - too much travel and flying my paraglider.

So now I return to it once more, a bit rusty but keen all the same. :D

Welcome Volans!

Welcome to our little part of the world...looks like you'll fit in just fine around this crowd though saying that you know Outback from the Middle East is not such a good thing to mention (what was it that you guys drank???).

At any rate, welcome welcome. Always good to meet a new diver.

Paraglider? Curious...

Eddy

PacketSniffer - thanks, see you in Catalina. I am looking forward to it.

Chunky - I am leaving Scotland. Been living here just south of Aberdeen for the last 4 years.

eddy - We were drinking ethanol mainly, and homemade beer/wine (if you can call it that). It probably does explain a lot.

Welcome aboard Volans

we have plenty of refugees in Houston and an increasing number via A'deen (or Stonehaven?). You can leave the warm jackets in UK; pack an extra liver though.....

See you in Catalina.

cheers,
McLot

Howdy Steph,

Welcome aboard! Feel free to ask all the questions you'd like & if you have a hankering to dive some weekend, throw a post up on the Dive Buddy Board.

There are lots of newly certified divers here chomping at the bit for someone to go diving with. Some of us old dogs might even crawl out from under the porch & join you too. :D

Oh, btw, Gig 'Em!

Hello

I'm Tracy and I am new to diving. Glad I finally got around to it because I love it and I can't seem to get enough of it.
I am friends with Eddy and Diver Dan so if you see me around I will probably be with one of them.

Howzit.

My name is James, and I'm originally from California. I took my first dive three years ago this past summer and I fell in love with the sport. I have been ceritfied for two years now, AOW and EANx40 through PADI as well.
I'm new to Houston and after being here two months I have discovered:

1. I don't know where to dive

2. No one seems to want to go diving if the ambient air temp is below 70F :D

3. therefore I have no one to dive with

When/where does your club meet each month? Bring me a t-shirt because its been about 3 months since my last dive and I'm thinking i'll join up if you feel I'm qualified and I'm not an asshole.

Here's to hoping you all have a sense of humor (at least above water) and the lashing won't be severe for the FAQ I probably missed on these...
