Hey, I'm OJ .... came here by way of Roger relaying me a question someone had about diving in Juneau Alaska. I know Roger from the Houston HammerHeads. I was one of the VP's then came up to Alaska to work in 2001 ..... still here! I got certified in 1999 at the Blue Lagoon .... since then have dove quite a few spots and have 594 logged dives. Heading back to the Galapagos Islands soon for the second time. Rescently did my advanced Nitrox & Deco Proceedures in Oahu, 2007. Planning to dive some of the wrecks in Lake Michigan. In the Bahamas, 2006 I got my Solo cert, so I already knew how to clip off bottles. Hmmm ... some of the places I've dove .... Bahamahs, Yap, Guam, Fiji, Tahiti, Australia, Various Hawaiian Islands, Belieze, Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, Antigua, Panama, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Key West, Key Largo, Cozumel ..... I think that's it ..... oh yea ... Anchorage Alaska.) Later on ..... OJ

Welcome to Chum. I really want to dive the Galapagos, let me know what its like.

It must have been a shock to move from Texas to the land of the midnight sun. I'm from the north, just not as north as you now live. I'm originally from Canada and the I had the reverse shock--cold to heat.

Have you ever dove the west coast of Canada? I've heard the wildlife is amazing and one site has a fully emersed air frame from a DC-9.

Talk to you soon.

Good Sunday Afternoon to All. Recent transplant (1 week) from Austin. Looking forward to meeting everyone and more importantly, DIVING!! I'm a paralegal, divorced, one kid--attending SFA in Nacogdoches....so "free time" is my middle name now. Anyone looking for a dive buddy, give me a shout out.

Hey, I lived in "Sackaroaches/ Nacanowhere" for a while while attending SFA. Transferred to SHSU before graduating though. The free time is what I loved most about being a student. Welcome to CHUM and hope you get some diving in soon.

Hello, My name is Jason and I moving back to Houston next week. I am working overseas and have been for 19 months. (I am ready to go HOME) I received my OW and AOW in Thailand, so I guess that the tropical dives is all that I know. I planned a Dive in UAE once, but backed out at the last minute. (Water looked like oil) None of my friends in the states Dive, so joining a social club seemed to be the wise thing. I am looking forward to getting involved with CHUM. I have seen a lot of the pictures that are on the site, and you guys look like you have a lot of fun. You hold your meetings in a pub, how could they not be.....All my gear is in Thialand except my BCD, so I will need to rent for a while. My mask and fins I will have to purchase when I arrive to Houston.

WELCOME BACK HOME! I'd love to visit Thailand someday. Great place too get your start diving! I'm kind of a long-time newbie myself. I have been certified for a year and a half but only have about 13 dives, due to trip cancellations, bad weather, and such. The pub deal was one of the attractions for me too. The other thing was that I got deleted on 2 other boards for posting mildly risque humor, and was about to come to the conclusion that divers were prudes until I found CHUM! LOL

Anyway, welcome to the gang, and welcome back to Houston.

If you don't start posting some of that here, we may have to suspend your membership. :p

How many folks show for the meeting?

We usually get 40 to 50 people. The VP works really hard to get top-notch speakers and our waitress makes sure the glasses don't stay empty long. Welcome aboard & we look forward to meeting you!

New to Houston

Hi. I will be moving to Houston late next week and would like to continue diving. I have been certified since 1999. I am a certified Full Cave diver and enjoy both cave and wreck diving. I will be looking for a new LDS and any suggestions of tech shops near the Johnson Space Center would be appreciated.

Lets Dive

Just signed up - Been in drydock the last few years (had a little one and thus halted the diving hobby). I would really be interested in local diving outings - Blue Lagoon, Aquarean, etc., Originally from the New Orleans area and love the the outdoors (fishing, camping, travel)...:D
