Hello

Wanted to introduce myself. I'm Steve. I've been certified since 1988 but haven't done much diving. I make a couple of trips to the Blue Lagoon each summer to get wet but that's about it. I'm wanting to start doing some diving and have been checking out local dive sites, but I need a dive buddy.

I went to the get together at the Stag's Head last night (May 12th). I spoke to a couple of folks; didn't get to really meet anyone but got a nice watch cap. It was suggested I register on this forum, so here I am.

people start showing up about 6:30 we have a few beers and socialize...around 7:30 we actually start with club buisness and the guest speaker. This month it's Ken Knezick from Island Dreams Dive Travel...should be pretty good.

Well, I guess I should say hello! :) My husband (soon-to-be-registered) DrCheap and I were frequent snorkelers for about three years until we graduated school and were able to afford diving :D . We even snorkeled around the Blue Hole in Belize!

We got our Open Water certification in August 2004 at the Blue Lagoon (much less exiciting than the Blue Hole), but it was nice to stay under the surface longer than we could with snorkels... Since then, we have dove in Cozumel and Belize and are going back to Cozumel in June.

In my non-dive life, I am Dr. Magenta, long-term care pharmacist, and part-time student at UT-Houston, working on my masters degree in health informatics. DrCheap is an IT manager, computer guru.

Anyway - we plan to be at this month's meeting and will drop by the Seaspace booth. Also looking for anyone going diving between now and our Cozumel trip... :)

Just a noob, but I do love getting bottom time one way or the other.

Well I'm kinda new to Scuba I got my open water cert about 3 years ago and have only really been able to use it a few times. Unfortunately working full time, to pay for going to college full time eats a large portion of time and money. But not for too much longer- Woo Hoo(or should that be Arrrrrrr!!!) either way, maybe some time in the near future I may see some of you on dive trips, or @ SeaSpace. Either way I will sure ask some of you over time what are good deals as far as equipment, trips, further training, etc.
Thanks to whomever Roger is from myspace.com for letting me know about this club, seems pretty cool and I'm sure glad to be able to make connections in one of my favorite hobbies.

Lata Gators.

Welcome Aboard

It good to have some fresh blood.....we've already corrupted the rest. Believe me you hang around this group long enough you'll get plenty of bottom time....and bottoms up for that matter. Look forward to seeing you guys at Seaspace and on the boards.

Hey Gang, ran across the board via Scubaboard and decided to Join up. I am originally a native of Houston (Spring actually), got certified off Kukyendahl in '89, and then lived and worked in Clear Lake for quite a while before transplanting to San Marcos (Takes me about 5 minutes to get to Aquarena, with traffic...Jealous much!). Any way my girlfriend and I dive Travis and Aquarena a lot along with the Comal River and some Canyon Lake. If you're headed this way let me know, always up for some good drink...um I mean diving.

I may

Take you up on that...My inlaws live at canyon lake and I can't stand to be that close to water without diving in it.....I'm actually going to be there June 18-19. While it is for her birthday...and then fathers day...I may be able to sneak away to make a dive. Don't suppose you do any tech diving.

That would be me. Hello everyone!

Looks like she already spilled the beans that I'm a computer nerd. Well, not much to say in this post, but you can check out my web site for some more info.

Well, I found out about your group/ club from Megenta, drcheap, dfishwoman. I met them yestarday out at TL and had a couple of very nice dives. I have been diving a year now. Coz, Belize, TL, Reef, San Marcus, Balmoreha, oil rigs. Looking forward to meeting more members. My wife is thinking about trying out scuba, maybe! Two of my sons that live in Austin just signed up for lessons, so I will have buddies to dive Lake Travis with when I can get up there.

I just thought I'd float this up. There are a lot of new folks on the board in the past week. Please put up a quick reply to this thread telling us a little about yourself. If there's anything specific you're hoping to get out of the club, let us know (except for free beer, you're on your own there ;) ).

I am engauged to a beautiful soon to be diver and live in katy." yes I travel up and down the beast ever day I-10" Anyway I think you'll like it in our liitle world. Jimmy buffett sure does!!! Just jump in, huh?

Okay, here we go. I grew up watching Sea Hunt and Flipper, and knew I just had to get in that water. And stay there. Certified through PADI in '84. Haven't logged that many dives since, largely due to lack of funds, but have made two very memorable trips strictly for diving: St. Croix in '94, and The Keys in '01. I left claw marks in the northbound lanes of A1A on the way out.

I found out about CHUM through a brief article in the current Houston Press, and had to check it out. Any group of people that drinks AND dives (but not in that order) is great in my book.

As a sidenote, I have been a Parrothead since '77 (The Eagles Hotel California tour. Jimmy was the warm-up act), so wherever my body is, my soul is in the tropics.

The rest is pretty mundane, and I won't bore you with the details. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Until then!
