Hey guys, my name is Ben and I am Eve's wife (Peacholica to you guys)

Peacholica took us on our first date on a shark dive and I really enjoyed it. In fact the picture on my profile is the one taken on that trip. During our honeymoon in Jamaica I got certified and I have been diving ever since.

I will be Dragonboat racing this May with you guys and hopefully partying some more!

Kind of new around here

Hi all,

I joined the Forum almost one year ago but it just occurred to me I never introduced myself. A friend of mine told me about CHUM and I have been lurking here from time to time, it was obvious from day one that you guys are fun! Whenever I am not cycling or diving, I am working, and I look forward to meeting CHUM members really soon.

Cheers,

Claudia

Well about time, maybe by 2012 you'll get around to diving with us! Just kidding, welcome to CHUM. Our monthly meetings are always fun and there's usually a group at a local lake in the summer. Tomorrow there will be a bunch of people at Blue Lagoon. Come out if you get the chance, just ask at the front where CHUM has been sequestered, nobody will bite I promise.

Hello all!

My name is Mike and I grew up in houston, but have spent the last few years living in San Diego. I recently quit my job and moved back "home". Very glad to be back and with my newly acquired free time, figured I would pursue learning to SCUBA dive. I went once in the Bahamas about 5 years and loved it. I have always been a very strong swimmer and truly love the water and wildlife. Also love eating fish! So hoping my SCUBA training can eventually lead to some spearfishing at some point. Hope that doesnt offend anyone, not sure if there are people who do that in this club. I guess I'll have to look around and find out! Anyways, look forward to some interesting conversation!

Greetings and Salutations

I am new to the group although I have been in the water with more members than I can count on one hand and probably more that I did not know about out at the Flower Gardens. I am still traveling the world looking for dive sites that are better than what we have 110 miles south of Galveston Texas. I have found spots that are ASSUME to dive but nothing compares to what is right in our own backyard. I have been on 3 trips to the Flower Gardens in 08 and plan to go on at least 3 more. I am going to watch the Coral Orgy at Cay-Sal Bank on the Nekton Pilot in August.
I am currently heading down the Technical Diving path so that I can Go Down Deeper and Stay Down Longer ;)
I hope to meet all of you at the next meeting.

BTW HOW do I get one of those COOL Shirts???

Welcome to the club, glad to see you finally picked a name and registered. I'm sure we'll find ourselves on a FG trip together eventually. Send a PM to our VP "Yankee Diver" with your shirt size.

Hi everyone.....Wanda here. I'm a newbie, got my OW in April and have been diving the local mud holes each weekend every sense. Have a trip to Cozumel in Aug where I will go for my AWO. I've been diving with several club members and they are a great bunch. Really forgiving of newbie mistakes, great for picking up tips. To clear up the common belief... I am female, the guys I work with gave me the nickname of "StackMaster" because I design Blowout Preventers stacks for offshore drilling & tend to have large stacks of chips when we play Texas Holdem. Plan on making the next meeting......see you all there.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, my husbands been around for a few days now and you can probably figure out who he is by matching our screen names! We got our O/W at the beginning of June and just got our Nitrox last week! Hopefully we will be able to go diving with ya'll a lot and also learn some new stuff along the way!

Love my name?

Yes, that imaginative moniker was given to me by my husband, agreenunderwater, when he registered me on divebuddy, so I guess I'd better keep it. You can call me Lil' Green or Miss Green - most of my friends do (although my name, Marcy, always works in a pinch; and although I am married, but "Mrs" is so cumbersome and actually refers to my mother-in-law).

So the hubbie and I got OW certified two weeks ago at Blue Lagoon. We went to Mammoth Lake last weekend with our new gear to practice ascents, descents, and navigation. The low visibility kind of creeped me out but I managed. My husband thought I refused to descend because I was afraid, but then he realized that I had just underestimated the additional weight I would need to compensate for a larger tank! So we swam back across the lake and hauled everything back to the top (which was super-fun since my scuba gear weighs a full 2/3 of my body weight, but I OBVIOUSLY didn't complain since we were here to have FUN dang it!) to get me 2 more lbs of weight. Learned my lesson, didn't I?

Then I got some good laughs going into Gigglin' Marlin on Monday after work to return my tank: it's probably not every day 90-pounders come waddling in there in pointy-toe pumps, skirts, and air tanks.

So anyway, I haven't gotten past page 5 of the newcomers thread...once I realized there were 64 pages, I kind of gave up. But I will check the last few and see if you guys are still having monthly happy hours, because I'm always in for a few drinks and a few laughs. Hope to meet some of you soon!
