Okay.. I'll jump in here and (finally) post an intro.

I was introduced to CHUM by outback earlier in the year. I've been primarily a lurker since. Guess I'm out of the closet now :D I was really impressed with the No Safe Harbor event, so I thought I'd stretch out of my comfort zone a bit and get a little more involved with CHUM!

I'm not sure I qualify to hang with you guys since I don't drink a lot, but ... really... I'm a fun designated driver!

I started diving almost 10 years ago and it's been an expensive hobby every since. It seemed like a great way to meet other single men... somehow I ended up with a bunch of female friends who dive. <Sigh> I guess I should consider that a bonus along the way. I'm a warm water diver; don't have an interest in cold water diving (yet).

Hope to meet more of you on a dive trip or at a local event.

following the rules

diving is about the only time I do that (follow the rules).

I saw the chumclub on a chat board search; since I live to dive, drink scotch quite well, and miss Houston desperately it seemed a natural fit. I'm not native to Texas, but I got there as soon as I could. Unfortunately a bad set of circumstance(s)? resulted in my moving back to the west, but my soul is still on the Gulf Coast. I certified there in 2000, and I'm getting ready to do my 100th dive soon. Love the Bay Islands, diving Cozumel, the Red Sea.

Thanks to whomever started this site...

Greetings:

:) I am one of those old hands at diving. Started in the early 70's. That is really old for some of you, I know. Though not the most highly certified, I am still into it and have lived through several sticky diving experiences.
Anyway, I am looking forward to meeting many of you and perhaps enjoying the wonderous sights underwater with you.
Angelfinstexas, new wife, and I have been diving together the past couple of years. And, we plan alot more diving. She is well trained, knowledgable, level headed and a good dive buddy. She would be a good one for other ladies to chat with about diving or even buddy up with. I guess I am forunite to have a wife that enthusiastically dives. Anyway, I do a lot of chasing her around underwater. Just kidding ;) Regardless, we both love people and love to hear stories of diving adventures. Both of us are into diving safely and part of that is being well prepared through training and experience. With good training and experience, comes confidence that one can handle unexpected situations and a peace of mind and an ability to relax and have fun diving. Fun......that's why I am into diving.

See ya online :)

Welcome

Welcome to CHUM. I just joined recently and find this forum full of good information and lots of BS. Very entertaining at the least. :D

Hello fellow dive nuts....

My name is Richard and I'm a dive-aholic. :D I'm been a dive-aholic since May of this year. Up to this point, I've logged more dives out of the country than in the country. Blame my employer for that one. :D

Anyway, I initiallygrew roots over on Scubaboard. I have had a few invites to come over to CHUM but laziness got the best of me. Reefhound finally gave me the inspiration to get the lead out. I'm planning to hook up with some of you for the mud...err, I mean the Offats dive in Galveston this Sunday.

I'll be diving every other weekend (2nd & 4th weekend) of every month so please give me a shout if you want to dive. I'll even be diving during the winter. Santa is bringing me a dry suit since I've been such a good boy. ;) I don't mind driving either so I plan to make all the Texas lakes and of course frequent runs to the Gulf. If anyone else is interested, I am also planning to dive the wrecks in our neck of the Gulf this spring/summer. I love to travel so don't hesitate to give me a shout to see where I'm headed.

I added a virtual map under the Texas Swamp Divers group on Scubaboard. Please check it out and add your name. I wasn't thinking when I created it. I should have named it something more generic like "Texas Divers". I didn't mean to single divers out by letting them think they had to "belong" to the Texas Swamp Divers club in order to add their name to the map. I'm in Japan at the moment and it's late and I'm tired. That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it. :p

Glad you made it. Since you're so fond of cold water :D you may be interested in this Valhalla Trip we have planned for January 28/29 2006.

Where's the Offat's thread? Haven't found it yet.

Thanks,

Richard

That would be here. Another easy way to locate upcoming trips is the Sticky "Upcoming Events" thread located in the Main forum.

Hola!

Hola! I followed a link from Scubaboard to find y'all! :)

I'm a newbie diver, certified in October, Cozumel trip cancelled in November, so I haven't had the chance to get back in the water yet. If anyone plans any local trips that would be doable for an inexperienced diver with no buddy, please PM me!

What kind of issues? I had "issues" with my left ear. Hoping that won't be a repeat occurrence

Greetings! I'm happy to hear about you guys. I currently reside in Winters, TX (about 40 miles south of Abilene), and have been looking for some good people to tag along with to Valhalla. I am PADI Rescue Diver certified, and going to Australia in February to do my Divemaster & Instructor certification courses. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to meet you (not too many divers in these parts) and can't wait to trade some good stories!
