No, I don't know saltysue. Who is she? What part of Utah did GWNDWN escape from? Steve

I lived in Murray, 6400s and 700w ish. If you're used to finding places in Utah....your going to go crazy here....there is no rhyme or reason to how they name roads in this town.

I lived right by Hillcrest High for all of my 35 years. Not far from you. I'm doing fine with finding things. I'm just missing Sundays on the slopes.

What are you talking about? It makes prefect sense...

Just the other day I was going west down 59 south, missed the exit to go north on 610 west loop and ended up heading in a southwesterly direction. That's why they call 59 the southwest freeway...well unless you are on 59 north of Houston, in which case it's the eastex freeway. But then I got on west belt going north and then went south on the northwest freeway and ended up where I was trying to be...that is going east on the north loop!

Note to siu: The above statement/route is actually possible, but only in Houston!

Good to see that you made it Barry. Welcome!

What are some of the locations that you dive out there?

You're always welcome. Your turn to drive. ;)

We have a variety of trips planned, from full weeks in exotic locations to weekend fly-n-dive or drive-n-dive to local outings. Some of us are often hitting places like Travis, Comal, Aquarena, and CSSP.

Well so far I have only been to Trivas, Balmorhea, Stillhouse, Valhalla and CSSP but planning on hitting a few other spots this year.

So let's dive them again! Some other fairly local spots that club members have talked about hitting are Athens, Amistad, South Padre, and Toledo Bend.

Hi

I am on a scouting mission over the water to see what you guys are upto Diving Wise. Never dived in the US but the Blue Planet series showed some amazing diving California and would love to get out sometime soon.

Hi

Hi. I'm new to Chum by way of ZenDiving by way of Scubaboard. I live out in Texas City (but claim Austin as my home) with my husband, daughter and far to many four legged creatures to admit. I've been diving since 1997, an instructor since 2000 and most of my vacations are spent somewhere I can dive. I've spent time in the Caymans, Honduras, Venezuela, Mexico, Florida, Turks and Caicos, Belize, maybe some others I'm missing plus of course lots of time in good old Lake Travis in Austin. I'm hoping to make some of the Chum meetings and happy hours - considering my drive back to Texas City I just won't get to happy : )

Welcome to our little board! Cool website you have there!

We are usually up to no good most of the time, (well, some of us more than others!) and try diving a lot in some different locales... ;)

Did you know that our Prez is from your neck of the woods? Just so you feel at home.... :)

Hola Suzanne, welcome to the club. I hope you make it to our next meeting, you will be surprised at how lively and entertaining they are.

We have a lot of trips planned this year, and there will be impromptu gathering s for local diving nearly every weekend, so get ready for lots of diving. Check the Upcoming Events thread for dates and details.

The best way to get involved is to jump into active threads and start posting your thoughts. We are always looking for fresh input. Don't be shy.

The function is to introduce myself, so... here goes:

Last year, my only New Year's Resolution was to become SCUBA certified... and on October 27, 2005, I became PADI Open Water Diver certified - officially! Yea me!

Since that time, I've not been back in the water, well, except to hang out in a hot tub or two, and shower daily, but no diving. Alas, I *want* to dive. I look forward to going on my next dive. I've even tried to get some dive buddies together to actually *go* diving. Life happens and the consequence is, we haven't been. Conclusion, I need more dive buddies!! More options! More opportunities!

So I'm hanging out minding my own business on MySpace.com when Sushi Boy emails me and tells me about CHUM - even extends an invitation to check it out, register, attend a meeting!! What a guy!! Me, Stag's Head, and new dive buddies, sounds like an answered prayer! I'm in!

and in case I didn't say so before, thanks Sushi Boy!

See y'all soon,
-tonya

Welcome to the club. Your story is a familiar one. But now you will have more dive buddies and dive outings than you can handle. Once the water warms up. There's some cold water weanies in here.
