Alrighty, change of plans.

The tarpon guy had a personal issue arise that prevents him from speaking to us. Fear not though! Gary to the rescue.

When you hear about Colombia (the country) many different images may come to mind. I'm guessing a lot of those have to do with the cartels in the 80s and 90s. Do you think about scuba diving there? DiverGent did just that.

I have no idea if that's where Gary went diving there but it IS in Colombia. Join us at our Nov 30th meeting (a slightly later date than usual) where Gary will regale us with stories and photos from his time diving in this beautiful country.

Gary will be joining us in-person and this time he'll be front & center! You're welcome to come hear the presentation with other CHUMmers at Jake's Sports Bar (2944 Chimney Rock Rd) or watch it remotely from the comfort of your own home via Zoom.

Start time is 7:30 pm

If you're coming to Jake's, get there a little early to grab a seat and order your food & drinks. They generously let us use that room every month, so please take care of the staff there when closing your tab!

CHUM is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

We hope you can join us for the meeting on Thursday.

We also hope that your heart wasn't set on hearing about tarpon because there's been a change of plans. See post #1 for the latest & greatest.

I'm preparing this at the last minute but I'll be talking about diving on the Caribbean (north) coast of Colombia and showing some pics to go along with the talk.

What I liked about diving in Taganga, Colombia was the variety of wildlife and coral including a few species that I haven't seen elsewhere or at least are not very common. Also, while Taganga itself is full of dive shops & backpackers, right next door is Santa Marta which is an historic Spanish settlement with lots of local culture.

Come on out & enjoy the company. Hopefully, the presentation won't be quite as tedious as Aunt Bertha's holiday slides.

I'm done (for the most part) with the prep & I'm going to just go ahead and say it...

I promise this will be the best presentation for 3rd Thursday with CHUM that's actually on the 5th Thursday where the scheduled speaker cancelled 3 days before in the entire history of CHUM. (TLDR; best presentation... entire history of CHUM)

There's photos, there's stories, there's singing* and there's even a couple of pics of yours truly in full unadulterated dive gear.

Come on out & join the fun.

*singing available based on some other member volunteering to sing
