There are two different tours, one standard and one called Undercurrents that is some art/ light show and is a limited event. I’ve tried to see what online people were saying about going to one or the other and there was only a few comments that said go to both if you have the time/ money/ interest.

Please plan on arriving 30-minutes before the tour to allow time for parking and check-in at the Cistern entrance located at 105-B Sabine St. Houston, TX 77007.
Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. Overfill parking is available in City Lot H, located at 1643 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77007, just to the east of Fonde Recreation Center.
My suggestion (if interested) is to book the light show the 11:00 or 11:15 if interested and then join for the 12:00 regular tour, but I recommend you buy tickets online early! Please RSVP if you plan on attending
