RE: the route ... the more shade, the better. Ellie doesn't do so great with the heat these days, and I'm guessing most of us don't either. We usually do our morning walks around 9 am, and it's already hot as hell by then.Made a recon trip out to Terry Hershey today.
Did 5k west of Dairy Ashford. Then did 5k east of Dairy Ashford. The former is a bit less scenic/serene but does feature a bathroom at the halfway point. The latter is a fair bit more scenic/serene but no bathroom along the way.
Did both in about 50 min or approx. 17 min/mi. Figuring we slow it down a bit, should take between 1hr 10 min and 1hr 20min give or take. Since we are a smaller group, thinking we can just decide as a group which direction/route based on if anyone figures they're gonna need a pit stop.
Both ways have plenty of shade to stop and have a drink of water and a quick respite as needed. PLEASE BRING PLENTY OF WATER, HAT, ETC. based on your anticipated needs. Will head to Hungry's for brunch after for those who are interested.
As for weather, the long range forecast is a bit mixed. The Weather Channel predicting partly cloudy skies with a 25% chance of rain. Accuweather calling for a 55% chance of morning thunderstorms. Will update every few days or so.
Now the sad news, especially you @McLOT...I didn't run in to any bagpipe players along the way.
Looking forward to it!
The bayou side of the route is fairly shaded. Pretty sure that Hungry's patio is dog-friendly but probably not inside. I'll call to confirm.RE: the route ... the more shade, the better. Also, does Hungry's have a dog-friendly patio? I looked at the website, but I didn't see anything about a patio.
