Howdy all. Just a quick note from Roatan. The Inn of the Last Resort is awesome. Very low key, tucked away on its own. Got here Saturday. The folks on the early plane did one afteroon dive. The rest of us had to settle for a moonlight snorkel in the lagoon.

We did three dives yesterday and have our own CHUM boat with a great divemaster - Arturo. We came back and then went on a full moon horseback ride. We got charged by a baby buffalo and my horse decided to bite Booty on the knee, but apart from that, it was a blast. Thermo and Hurl sat out the horse ride in favor of a tour of the bar and were down for the count before we ever got back.

Did two dives this morning followed by a picnic on the beach (ok, it was actually just in the boat) and then a third dive this afternoon. On the second dive, Arturo took us on a marathon swim / safety stop. At the end of it most of our tanks were so low they almost turned inside out. Came back, grabbed a beer at the bar, and are fixin' to head off to West End to see the sun set & have some dinner.

Quotes of the trip

Hey guys! I decided to take a beather and relax for a few minutes while the rest of the Chumers are on a night dive and I thought that I would pop in with a few quotes of the trip so far...

Sushi Boy ~ "I knew I should have ordered longer CHUM shirts!" when Outback wore his CHUM shirt and speedo's ...oh...and dive gear...WHAT WAS HE THINKING??? no photos will follow
Eddy ~ "Is there any way that you can not kill us please!!" screaming to a driver after she piled 11 people from our group in the back of a SMALL truck and proceded to take us the wrong direction and at light speed and then when we screamed for mercy let us out and then attempted to back up over the group...just another day in Roatan!

Having a great time...did a shark dive this morning. It was incredible!
Roger and I saw an octopus on a DAY dive today!!!

We're NEVER coming home!!!

First CHUM siting on a shark dive!!

Dive was incredible. About 17 reef sharks. Booty decided that there wasn't enough CHUM supplied so he was happy to cough up some of his own. I think he has won another nickname...

Third boat's a charm...

Well, we killed another dive boat (something about engines needing oil) so we're on boat number three now. We're gonna see if we can't flip this one or something. ;)

Just got off an awesome dive on Spooky Channel. A couple of big grouper hanging around, saw a turtle & a stingray shot by us. Finished the dive with a barracuda posing for us during the safety stop.

Yesterday, Outback and I did a dolphin dive at Anthony's Key. Lots of great photo ops. We had two dolphins in the water with us and we did a nice, long dive with them. They would come up and lay down on the sand right in front of us by the end of the dive. Very cool.

Eddy had a few monkey lalas and pina coladas at the bar last night and ran around all night saying "la la la la". We're thinking of chaning her name to Eddy Lala.

This afternoon, we're gonna go on a canopy / zip line tour. We'll see how many CHUMmers we can splat into trees.

Do we REALLY have to come home? :(

Dude Where's My Car?

I was not sure whether to believe the story of the Dude getting run down or not, but much to my chagrin the whole thing not only took place but happened during one of our dives. I missed the whole thing, but luckily was able to get this photo from a relaible source. It cleary shows the Dude being pursued by a late model Pontiac on one of the dives which literally came out of no where striking the Dude from behind last week. Frankly, I was appalled to find out the driver was intoxicated, and the Dude was not Wreck certified!
