First off, no, I'm not shopping for YOU at the moment...;)

This was posed to me by a friend from college and I figured y'all would have some great feedback.

Let's say you had a diver friend you really liked and had an extra $1000 to $1500 burning a hole in your pocket. She (the recipient) has been diving for a while, has taken several trips, is nitrox certified, and lives somewhere that warm, clearwater diving can be done as a day trip.

What's a good gift in that price range to get her? My first suggestion was a Perdix 2 but then I thought that y'all might have some great ideas, too.

I owe him a response by tomorrow afternoon, so time is of the essence.

Whatcha got?

If she's not going tech the Peregrine TX has nearly the same features (AI, compass) and is a bit slimmer.

Marci has been super delighted with her Scubapro Hydros Pro bcd. Best BCD she's ever had.

I would blow the lot on a boozy party with like-minded buddies.
Wait, what was the question?

The Perdix is a good call, but including the transmitter takes the price to the top end of the range.

A trip also makes sense. Open-ended pricing.

Camera, Go Pro, or other similar gear. Of course.

DAN membership thrown-in shows some due care........

Well SB, that's a pretty shallow dive of information about said diver (recipient)...

1. What gear do they currently own or may be missing?
2. How technology/data oriented is she?
3. Most extreme dive scenario/environment said diver is likely to pursue?
4. Does said diver anticipate pursuing further certification/training?

SW makes a super nice computer with a beautiful display but I would argue that a significant number of "average", warm water, on holiday, calm/ideal conditions, guided trip type of divers have computers that FAR exceed any typical needs of this type of diver.

I would lean towards a gift or gifts that fall more in line with the above type of diver and that I consider more practical (if the above assignation fits the recipient). Maybe a nice reg set, BCD, etc...?

But if she has high quality kit otherwise, why not the SW computer I guess...? (See @ReefHound comment re: SW Peregrine TX; could step down to Peregrine if the compass of the TX model is unlikely to be used in a meaningful way).

And I second @McLOT re: the DAN membership throw-in.

And also the boozy party.

How about a class that would involve doing some non-typical diving. Not sure exactly what's available but maybe something that went deeper than 130 ft. Or maybe north Florida for cavern/cave diving. Cost of class and travel should ballpark the cost range.

Or even just different diving without the class like searching for megalodon teeth.

Just thought to steal from VikingDiver and do altitude diving class in Lake Tahoe.

I'm more of an "experiences" type than "stuff" type if you haven't guessed.
