Welcome @ScubaSweeney ! I had a 17 year hiatus ... got certified in 1998, dove for a few years, then quit when I divorced my dive buddy. I got back into it in 2018, and these guys can't get rid of me, no matter how hard they try.

Hello everyone,
My name is Matt Young I’m relatively new to diving just started 2 years ago. A little background about myself: I am an Army veteran from 2008-2011, then worked in the oilfield industry for 7 years as a service technician all over the gulf. Now I’m a full-time Marine Biology student a Texas A&M with a minor in Dive Technology. I’m am here hoping to find new friends and new communities to take part in some local diving sites. Outside of school I don’t really know a whole lot of people to go dive with so it will be great to network and meet new people.

I'm new to diving and currently finishing up my open water certification in preparation for a trip I have planned in Roatan mid April. I definitely know there's a lot to learn and am very excited to expand my knowledge for this newly found obsession!!! I appreciate the invite and look forward to creating an extended scuba family, one thing I have learned is every diver needs a good diving partner!!

Also, one of the most fun things we do is coming up - it's our CHUM Takes the Comal trip - it's a really great way to spend all or part of a weekend and get to know some members.

I encourage you to become a Tiger Shark especially being local...(there's swag included)! The more involved you are, the more you will get out of being a CHUM member. There are many very experienced folks across the spectrum of diving that are great resources; not to mention local dive meetup opportunities and local land-based excursions throughout the year and trips abroad!
