Welcome! We have a meeting this Thursday evening, so stop on by if you can. We also have a fair contingent up in the 'lands, so I'm sure you can find a few of them in the local bars.

Hello,

I'm new to Houston and to CHUM. I just moved here from Jacksonville, FL, and my husband will be joining me in Houston soon. He dives too and we're looking for other people to dive with on day or weekend trips. We are signing up for Trashfest 2009.

We just got certified in January, and became scuba junkies immediately. We logged some dives in FL before moving out here, but are worried that there won't be much diving nearby. I'm hoping to tag along with some CHUM people before the weather turns cold....

Brooke -- I am so glad you signed up on the board and for Trashfest! It was awesome meeting you at the monthly meeting last week, and I am so pumped that you enjoyed our rowdy group of friends! CHUM really is an awesome group of people, and on any given weekend, and the occasional weekday, there is always a group ready to get wet!

Although your options in Florida were probably more tantalizing than Texas diving, there are a handful of options that will quench your urge to blow bubbles. I can't wait to explore some of these sites with you and your husband.

Like Siren said, we all wish we had the diving options available in Florida but diving is a lifestyle. Our local dive outings are as much to socialize and enjoy the weekend as the diving itself, although local diving is an excellent way to keep your skills sharp so you can enjoy those tropical dive trips better.

Hi there - My hubby and I are new divers and new to CHUM (he hasn't joined yet but will). We completed our OW cert in July and are already hooked. We have two kiddos so we look forward to the family events as well as being able to party it up with you all whenever we can snag a babysitter. I know we have a lot to learn and look forward to hanging out with you all.

Hi. Just thought that I would check out CHUM. My son has wanted to get certified since he was 10 so I finally decided it was time. We got our OW certifications in August. But before that we did some discovery dives with Dive Experience in St. Croix this summer. It was great!!! -Karen

Hi and thanks for the welcome... Well, the new OW certification is exciting... just thought that I would take the opportunity to list my other certificate :) The mom cert also comes with some pretty intensive training and takes practice. -Karen
