Five DAM Years - DAM CHUMMERS 2017

December done at 288 today so that completes the 1st year DAM Challenge for me . Thanks to DeepGeek and Seaagg05 for letting me tag along in my wetstuit while they dove dry (don't worry I had a heated vest so was all toasty up until near the end of the dive ).

Mods can move this post when the 2018 DAM thread is started but wanted to say that some of us are off and running.

SeaAgg05, pegleg, deep bubbles, watermonkee, and myself reefhound have knocked out January 2018.

We parked in Prince Solms park this morning, walked a couple hundred yards in 26 deg F with light sleet to enter the Comal just below the chutes. We must have still been drunk because no sober person would ever willingly do this. Short and shallow dive but a dive it was. Water temp was cooler than the normal 71, some of us read mid-60's. But the diving was the easy part, once everyone's gear thawed out. Getting out was downright brutal. At least we had a condo on the river with stairs going into the water so exiting was faster (but excruciatingly cold). And there were a lot of stairs.

We have awarded ourselves the Sleet Diver Specialty.

Deep Bubbles, Seaag05, and I dove in slightly better conditions Sunday 12/31, Air 42°, Water high 60's low 70's. But I made it under the wire for 2017 DAM CHUMmer.

Unfortunately it's going to take me a little while to get the DAM gear for you (probably February's meeting) so sit tight and keep on chumming.

24% and I planned on coming to the January meeting to partake in all the high-fives and pats-on-the-back and general "you-rock" sentiments. hehehe......Does this mean that the accolades and ceremonial activities for 2017 DAM CHUMmers will not be happening at the January meeting? Or will they still be happening, just not with the booty?

YAY for accolades!! hahaha...we are just excited to see everyone! I will con a fellow CHUMmer into picking up our hats at the February meeting for us, since we won't be able to attend next month's meeting. But FUN TIMES are ahead for January! CONGRATS to ALL 2017 DAM CHUMMERS!!!
