Hello I'm Joel!
I live in the Montrose area here in Houston.
I've only been at it for since late 2021, but have been going every 6 or so weeks down to Mexico to dive. I'm currently AOW and will be taking my rescue diver in the next month. I would love to start doing some fresh water dives here in Texas!

Welcome Joel! You’ve come to the right place to get some local diving in. Keep an eye on the Dive Buddy Board for several opportunities each month. Feel free to start a thread if you’re itching to go sometime.

If you’re around the evening of the 21st, come to our monthly meeting for a good chance to know some of us, too.

Hi - I'm Belinda. I've been diving since 2014. I have gotten my 17 year old daughter into diving also. This year we went to Little Cayman and Grand Cayman. I want to make sure to stay in the water more often than I have in the past. I'd like to explore some more Texas Lakes and meet new people to dive and travel with. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Hello CHUM. I moved to Houston (Galleri area) in March. I started diving in 1990 and currently a Divemaster. I am a spoiled diver, work had me living on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands for a few years where we had unlimited diving for $70 a year. Dove a lot of WWII wreaks both ships and airplane graveyards. Looking forward to seeing what Houston area has to offer. Plan to see you at the next meeting.

Welcome aboard, Gooch! Sounds like some pretty sweet diving. Is your avatar a photo you took?

I'm so jealous! I only got to dive the Prinz Eugen a few times around a Bikini trip. I could spend a week scurrying around that ship alone, let alone all the other wrecks.

You'll have to share some stories over a beer at the next meeting.

*waves tentatively* Hi y'all. I've been away just over 15 years and wandered in. Lots of things have changed but didn't. I'm getting ready to do a snorkeling thing over in Florida next month with maybe some sharks. I'd have preferred a scuba experience, but it's led by a research scientist studying sharks. Was looking online instead of searching the closets here for my jetfins. Does any shop carry them still? I'm in the Sugar Land area.

I have a set you can have. What size do you need? I will check to see if they will work for you.

Hi all,

I just moved back to north Houston from San Francisco where I was a volunteer diver at the Cal Academy (cleaning, breeding, feeding). Looking to join a local dive club and dive a bit more often in the area. Was recommended to Chum after meeting someone in Roatan this month who used to be involved. Am currently a DM with a few hundred dives and with my own gear! If there's any ideas on LDS too in the north Houston area, lmk

Good morning everyone,
I am from Houston, started to get into diving Aug 2021 and have been diving a lot in Cozumel and Roatan. Love to be underwater, and even have my family into it as well. Currently I am an assistant instructor for SSI and have my eye on getting the instructor cert in the near future.
Looking forward to diving with yall soon

Hi everyone

I’m new to SCUBA. Taking my plunge this Wednesday and seeing where this adventure takes me. I start my SSI Open Water course. I’ll be a solo diver and I’m new to Houston, well 2 years. I work nights so walking in the sunlight doesn’t happen often for me. I also work way too much and need an escape from the hospitals so I’m hoping diving will begin my journey. Gonna try and book a spot for the Comal in March and take the travel trailer. Yet another reason to get out and about. Can’t wait to start exploring the world under terra firma.

WELCOME!!! WELCOME!!! You have found a WONDERFUL group of folks that are fun and laid back and enjoy diving and having fun. :D Can't wait for you to catch the "bug" and join us on all sorts of adventures big and small! :) Our monthly meeting is this Thursday if you want to come!!! Everyone would love to meet you!!!

Regarding the Comal - check this thread and call Landa RV Park. You'll want to book site 602 since you have a travel trailer. They have implemented silly rules about RVs along the river again. But Lakediver will be in an RV in site 601 so 602 will be a good choice for you. Call asap for that site!

my names Sushi Boy, and I'm a diveaholic...

Hi Everyone,

Take a sec and introduce yourself here (when you do, please let us know how you found out about us).

I'm the VP of CHUM, and when I'm not scuba diving, I work in sales to support my dive habit.

The best place I've been diving so far is the Galapagos, and I'm looking forward to upcoming dives in Roatan, Mexico, and Missouri.

Next...
Hello sir I am Irfan .I belong to coastal area of Balochistan I want to talk with you I sent my email to you

Hello Sushi Boy - I hope it's cold enough up in Michigan for you. Is the group heading to Roatan this year? If so, where do I find out about that. Planning on Belize and Mexico in 2025, but nothing planned this year. I'm itching to get back into the water.

The monthly meetings (Zoom options available) are a great time to find out about up and coming club events. Keeping an eye on the forums helps too.

As an outgoing officer & remote member, I don't have my fingers on the pulse as much as I used to, but keep in touch with the new Board of Directors, some of whom will be announced tomorrow night.

And yes, it's plenty cold, thanks. :D
