Hello everyone! I just joined the group today, so I thought I would introduce myself. I got certified a really long time ago ... 1998, I believe. But then I divorced my dive buddy, and stopped diving. So now it's been 15 years since I've gone diving in anything but a pool ☹

I've missed diving a lot, so I decided that my return is long overdue! Currently, I have no gear and no buddy. I'm hoping to remedy the gear situation within the next year, and hopefully the buddy situation sooner than that! At any rate, that's probably more than you really needed to know in an introduction, but ummm ... hi!

I'm planning on going! I have some gear ... mask, snorkel, fins, etc. But no BCD, regs, or computer. I was just planning on renting until I can afford to buy new gear. I'm trying to make new gear happen ASAP, but it will realistically be sometime this winter.

One of the many benes of being a CHUM Tiger Shark (more info here) is that you can list gear for sale in our Gear forum. You may want to poke around in there and/or drop in a post to see if anyone is selling anything you can use. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Jen, welcome to CHUM. Heidi Ho covered the dive gear, and there's a forum for finding Dive buddies too. We also try to organize a club dive once a month, which is a great way to get in the water :)

I am Excaliber and a new piece of chum to add to the CHUM bucket. I am a new C card holder as of May. Very few dives in so far but looking to get more. Although I do not think I will be able to get to blue water this year. I have 2 great vacations planned but unfortunately I will not be diving for them. I the meantime I will probably hit a few of the diving lakes around to get more experience.

I am 44 years old and divorced as of last year. No kids as of yet. Originally from the Detroit area and moved here 14 years ago after I got laid off from GM. Now II am working for an oil and gas company. I know big surprise someone in Houston working in oil and gas. I don't miss the cold winters but I do miss the milder summers. Although hot summers here means warmer water temp so I guess its alright.

Welcome! We're glad you found us....and you came to the right place to get in local dives. We'll be at Blue Lagoon on August 11 and someone is always somewhere at least once a month. Hope to see you at a CHUM event or meeting soon.

Hi all ,

Started my diving adventure way back in 97, in Saudi Arabia with a bsac certification. Moved back to the states and switched over to padi. And just to top things off. My new dive partner just started diving and got his ssi certification so I took that certification too.
Sushi Boy pointed me to CHUM, he said you all were fairly harmless. I have a feeling that’s all lies.
Though I don’t get to dive as much as I have wanted to over the years I am hoping to change that.

We all think strapping a high pressure metal tube on our back and going somewhere we can't breath is a reasonable form or recreation... so there's at least something a bit odd about us o_O

Welcome to the forum, and hopefully we'll see you at one of our meetings (7:30 on the 16th @ Jake's Sports Bar) or upcoming dives (Saturday at Blue Lagoon). If you have any questions let us know.

Hello everyone,

My wife and I just joined the group to look for some like minded individuals to share diving experiences with. She got her certification over in the fjords of Norway and I finished mine in 2016 in the lake off of 288. We have been on a couple of dive trips together and we both love to travel to diving destinations. We look forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Just joined
So, I started diving when I was 15 when in Crystal River, Fl., a quaint drinking village with a manatee problem. But alas at 15 diving turned out to be too expensive. So, I stopped. I decided to go through my open water again with my wife in April and I have been in the water all I can since.
